Getting started

From download to first prompt in minutes.

Six short steps — written for people who have never used an AI coding agent, and quick enough for people who have.

Download and install

Get the installer for your OS from the download page, run it, and open Kaptin. On first launch your OS may ask you to confirm the new app — that's normal.

Sign in to Kaptin

Create your Kaptin account or sign in to start your 7-day trial. This subscription covers the workspace app itself — separate from any agent provider plan.

Open or create a project

Point Kaptin at an existing folder or start a new project. Everything lives on your machine, so pick anywhere you like.

Connect an agent

Go to Settings → Agents and either sign in with your agent's CLI subscription (recommended) or paste an API key. Repeat for every agent you want available — Claude, Codex, Muse, OpenCode, Ollama.

Send your first prompt

Start a conversation, pick your agent, and ask for something small and reviewable — for example: “Create a simple homepage for my project with a hero section and three feature cards.”

Preview and iterate

Watch the result land in the integrated browser, review the changed files in the Files tab, and follow up with refinements. Try the interactive demo first if you'd like a preview of the flow.
